Elimination of Food Assistance Programs Will Deepen Local Hunger Crisis
Feed My People Food Bank (FMP) is deeply concerned about the elimination of the Local Food Purchase ...
Come together with other community members for a night of collective action against hunger at Feed My People. We are bringing back volunteer evenings to help pack food urgently needed for families served by our hunger-relief partners across west central Wisconsin. Community Action Nights scheduled so far are Tuesday evenings on October 13, November 29, and December 13 from 5-7 pm.
Sign up to volunteer! If you are a group of 6 or over that wants to sign up contact Ken first by emailing ken@fmpfoodbank.org or calling 715-835-9415.
Our partners rely on repacked products including cereal, oatmeal, rice, and pasta. All of these are staples but they're not always available for us to order in consumer-ready packaging, so we often get them in bulk quantities at a lower cost. That's where our volunteers come in!
By packing food into smaller packages, volunteers ensure our partners have the opportunity to order food that pretty much all of their guests desire. Rice and pasta are meal staples and cereal is a hit for breakfast. Our backpack programs for students rely on smaller-sized repacked products because keeping the bag light and providing food that is easy to eat is especially important for kids at home alone.
We hope you join us for a Community Action Night! Remember to wear closed-toed shoes and clothes you don't mind working in. Anyone age 12 and above is welcome, but hurry there are only 24 spots available per evening.
