Join Feed My People in Taking 75,000 Actions This Hunger Action Month

September marks Hunger Action Month (HAM), an annual campaign by the Feeding America network to mobilize communities across the nation in the fight against hunger. As an affiliate member of Feeding America, Feed My People Food Bank (FMP) is dedicated to moving individuals and communities to action right here in West Central Wisconsin. This year, our goal is to inspire and record 75,000 actions, symbolizing the number of people who depend on Feed My People's services annually.

Visit our HAM page to learn more and take action.

Why 75,000 Actions?

The number 75,000 may seem ambitious, but it reflects a stark reality-75,000 people, including families, children, and seniors, rely on the support provided by FMP every year. These actions won't just be numbers; they represent our collective commitment to ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry. Whether you volunteer, donate, or simply spread our message, every contribution helps create a healthier, hunger-free future for our neighbors.

Why Hunger Action Month Matters

Hunger is a reality for too many people in our community. In Wisconsin, 1 in 10 people and 1 in 6 kids experience food insecurity. This means thousands of individuals and families in our area still don't have reliable access to the nutritious food they need to thrive. The good news? There is plenty of food in Wisconsin - it's a matter of getting it to the people who need it most. Hunger Action Month is our opportunity to come together as a community and make a difference.

How You Can Make a Difference

During Hunger Action Month, we're asking everyone - neighbors, network partners, donors, and volunteers - to take action. Here's how you can get involved:

  • Volunteer: Sign up for one of our volunteer opportunities. Your time and energy are invaluable to our mission.
  • Donate: Every donation helps us provide for those in need.
  • Spread the Word: Share our message on social media using the hashtag #75000Actions. Every share brings us closer to our goal.
  • Go Orange: Orange is the color of hunger action. Show your support by wearing orange or purchasing a Hunger Action Month t-shirt, available throughout September.

Tracking Our Progress

Throughout September, we'll be tallying the number of actions taken:

  • Donations made
  • Volunteers mobilized
  • Social media shares, likes, and mentions (#75000Actions)
  • Media stories featuring our mission
  • HAM t-shirts purchased
  • Fresh food donated
  • Guests who tour our facilities
  • Diners who participate in Dine to Donate
  • New partnerships formed
  • & More!

Every action matters, and together, we can make a significant impact. Taking 75,000 actions won't end hunger overnight, but it's a powerful sign that we are united in our efforts to create change.
